Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be interested in fiction writing.
  3. Must be a U.S. resident by October of contest year.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Additional Information: No previously published works or works accepted for publication elsewhere can be accepted. Nimrod retains the right to publish any submission. If a student would like to be mailed the results of the contest, he/she must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with his/her submission. Results will also be posted on the Nimrod website.

Award Amount: First prize: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Second prize: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

This is a fiction literary writing contest. The contest begins on Jan. 1, and all submissions must be postmarked by the deadline date. Each student must submit a fiction entry of no more than 7,500 words with a cover sheet containing the major titles and subtitles, his/her name, full address, and his/her telephone and/or fax numbers. "Contest Entry" should be clearly indicated on both the outer envelope and the cover sheet. Each submission must also include a $20 entry fee (this includes a one-year subscription for two issues of the Nimrod International Journal). Multiple submissions must be sent in separate envelopes.
