Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of the city of Ventura, California and a graduating senior or previous graduate of a high school in Ventura.
  2. Must be majoring in creative writing or engineering.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Parker and Virginia Howell Scholarship Fund is provided annually through the Ventura County Community Foundation and seeks to assist graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students in the city of Ventura. Applicants must demonstrate high levels of academic performance, unmet financial need, and must be majoring in engineering or creative writing. Award selection will consider a combination of financial need, academic merit, and dedication to his/her intended or declared major.

Award Amount: $600 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $600.

Applications and information for the Parker and Virginia Howell Scholarship Fund are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation website. To apply for an award, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
