Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be attending college/university or technical school either part or full time.
  2. Must be an employed full-time or part-time by Meijer, with continuous service or, dependent child (natural, legally adopted, or step-child) of a current Meijer Team Member with an employment start date on or before March 1, 2019 who has been employed full-time or part-time by Meijer.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship fund was established by Fred and Lena Meijer for children of Meijer team members and Meijer Team Members. It can be used for undergraduate study at an educational institution or training school within the United States. Awards are determined by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, a non-profit agency.

Application requirements for the Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • FAFSA by 10/01/2020
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript.
Additional Information: For the year for which the application is being submitted, the applicant must be either: • A current Meijer Team Member with an employment start date on or before March 1, 2019, who has been employed full-time or part-time by Meijer, with continuous service, and will be attending college/university or technical school either part or full time or, • A dependent child (natural, legally adopted, or step-child) of a current Meijer Team Member with an employment start date on or before March 1, 2019 who has been employed full-time or part-time by Meijer, who will be attending college/university or technical school full time or, • A dependent child of a former Meijer Team Member who worked full-time or part-time for Meijer for at least one year, but whose employment was terminated due to death, retirement, or total and permanent disability, who will be attending college/university or technical school full time. • The scholarship cannot be used to complete a graduate level program. Children of Meijer company officers, board of directors, or shareholders are not eligible for a scholarship.

Award Amount: The winner of the Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship will receive from $4,000 to $10,000. Scholarship is renewable by re-applying.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Application are available from www.meijer.com. To apply for the Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship, students must complete the online application form at the provider website and will need to submit their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA. Also student need to furnish official or unofficial transcripts and provide a goals statement / essay. All applications must be submitted electronically by 5PM EDT deadline date.
