In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to attend Augsburg College in Minnesota.
  3. Must enroll full time.
  4. Must be an incoming first-time freshman.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must have an SAT score (reading/math) of 1210 or higher OR an ACT score of 27 or higher.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors who are planning to attend Augsburg College in Minnesota and participate in its Honors Program. The student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and either an SAT score (reading/math) of 1210 or higher or an ACT score of 27 or higher.

Additional Information: The President's Scholarship recognizes first-year students of exceptional academic ability with strong evidence of leadership potential. Scholarships are awarded through the Scholarship Weekend competition. Award decisions are based on academic criteria, a letter of academic recommendation, leadership activities, an essay, and an on-campus interview. To receive these awards, qualified students are required to live on campus and to participate in Augsburg's Honors Program. Applicants are encouraged to apply for additional scholarships for which they might qualify, but if a President's Scholarship is awarded, the recipient cannot receive any other Augsburg scholarships.

Award Amount: One recipient will be awarded a full tuition scholarship. Full tuition for the 2021 year is $39,295.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $39,295.

Scholarship information is available online on the Augsburg College website. Students are considered for this scholarship upon applying for admission to Augsberg College and indicating that they wish to be considered for admission to the Honors Program. Admissions application information is available online at www.augsburg.edu/firstyear/inquire-and-apply/. Students may submit either the Augsburg College admissions application or the Common Application. In addition to the application, each student must submit the following materials: official high school transcripts; official ACT and/or SAT scores (must include writing sections); a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor; and an essay response to one of the prompts on the application.Once the student's completed application is submitted, an admissions decision is made in approximately four to six weeks. Please note: Applicants for this scholarship must be admitted in time to attend the Scholarship Weekend in mid February.
