In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be accepted to UMBC and the Walter Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program.
  5. Must be majoring in political science, public policy, or public administration.
  6. Must be a resident of Baltimore, MD.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Baltimore who have been accepted to UMBC and the Walter Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate an interest in public policy.

Application requirements for the Walter Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program are:

  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: This scholarship is provided annually for Baltimore area high school seniors who are accepted to and planning to attend UMBC and the Walter Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program. Applicants will be selected based on academic merit, as well as demonstrated concern for public affairs and policy.

Award Amount: $5,000-$15,000 per year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $45,000.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
