Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships offered varies annually. *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  3. Must have an SAT score of 1290 or higher OR must have an ACT score of 29 or higher.
  4. Must attend Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
  5. Must be applying for admission as a freshman.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Texas.

Description: This award is available to international students enrolling at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas as freshmen. Students must have an SAT score of 1290 or higher OR an ACT score of 29 or higher.

Additional Information: Financial aid is only available for first-time foreign students. International transfer applicants are not typically considered for this scholarship. Trinity University is need-conscious when making decisions of admission with regard to foreign students. When reviewing foreign applications, Trinity takes into account whether or not an applicant has requested financial assistance. Applying for financial aid places the applicant in an extremely competitive applicant pool. Merit scholarships are based on the strength of the student's academic profile as measured by the following criteria: rigor of and performance in secondary school coursework, standardized tests, strength of essay, involvement outside of the classroom, and recommendations from school officials. Need-based financial aid is based on the demonstrated financial support of the student's family. Competition for this type of aid is keen. Financial aid awards will be given with an offer of admission to Trinity. Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies according to the student's demonstrated academic merit and financial need. However, upon acceptance to Trinity, the university will meet 100 percent of the student's demonstrated financial need. The average award amount is between $4,000 and $16,000 annually.Awards are renewable up to a maximum of three additional years by maintaining a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $16,000.

Admissions applications are available on the Trinity University website. There is no special application for financial aid. Automatic consideration is given to all foreign applicants for both merit- and need-based aid at Trinity University. In addition to a completed admissions application, the following materials must be submitted: a certified transcript and/or official examination results; a completed 'Secondary School Report' form and a letter of recommendation from an advisor, counselor, and/or headmaster of the student's last attended institution; a completed 'Teacher Evaluation' form and a letter of recommendation from a previous teacher; a completed 'Trinity's Statement of Financial Support' and supporting documentation from a bank official; a $50 US application fee, unless the application is submitted online; and all standardized test results from the SAT, ACT or the TOEFL examination (highly recommended for students from non-English speaking countries). Please note: TOEFL minimum scores of 600 on the paper exam, 250 on the computer-based exam, and 100 on the internet-based exam are needed. If submitting applications via postal mail, all applications and supporting materials must be postmarked by the desired admissions deadline date.
