Number of Awards & Eligibility: One or more awards offered annually. Last year, one award was offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must be from the Albuquerque Metro Area (Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance or Sandoval counties).
  5. Must attend an accredited nonprofit or public two- or four-year institution full time.
  6. Must demonstrate hope, faith, and courage; thoughtfulness and service to others; and/or living life, pursuing dreams and enabling one’s self.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduating high school seniors residing in the Albuquerque Metro Area (Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance & Sandoval counties) are eligible for this award. Students must demonstrate hope, faith and courage; thoughtfulness and service to others; and living life, pursuing dreams and enabling one’s self.

Application requirements for the James Ledwith Memorial Scholarship Fund are:

  • ACT/SAT scores
Additional Information: The scholarship is to be used for post-secondary education at an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution in pursuit of a “life dream” and/or professional goal.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online form the Albuquerque Community Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, a personal essay on the topics listed within the application, a resume of no more than three pages in length, and two letters of recommendation. One letter of reference must be from a member of his/her high school staff or faculty, a teacher, administrator or activity sponsor, that explains how the applicant has faced an extraordinary “life challenge” during their high school years and the second letter of reference may be from someone whose life has been positively affected by the applicant such as a community or activity sponsor, employer, minister, teacher or peer Applications must be submitted online by the deadline date.
