Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies based on selection committee recommendation and available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be lawfully present in the United States.
  3. Must be an incoming freshman. The student must graduate from a high school accredited by a state education agency or a regional accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
  4. Must plan to attend Missouri State University (Springfield campus).
  5. Must enroll full time in the year he/she graduates from high school.
  6. Must rank in the top 50 percent of his/her class OR have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale as of the end of the sixth semester (end of junior year).
  7. Must have demonstrated leadership in multicultural school or community activities or organizations such as: band/orchestra; choir/vocal ensembles; community service; drama/debate; multicultural organizations; newspaper/yearbook; student government; varsity athletics.
  8. Students with disabilities and/or historically underrepresented populations - African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans - are encouraged to apply.
  9. Must have declared a major that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education or Bachelor of Music Education degree.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: To be considered for this scholarship, the student must have a demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity and inclusion. They must also meet one or more of the following criteria: Be from a historically underrepresented group; Be from a low socio-economic background; or Be a first-generation college student (i.e., neither of your parent(s)/guardian(s) has a bachelor's degree. The student's academic performance and their record of school and community service will also be considered. Students will be selected by a committee established by the Office of Multicultural Services.

Additional Information: $4,000 per year, plus $1,000 per year for on-campus housing. Recipients will also have access to a $1,000 education abroad voucher. Total potential value over fours years is $21,000. Non-Missouri residents will also receive a full waiver of nonresident fees for fall and spring semesters.

Award Amount: $4,000 per year, plus $1,000 per year for on-campus housing.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

You should make sure that you have submitted an admission application, a high school transcript, your highest ACT or SAT score (if needed for admission purposes), and any other items requested for admission to the Missouri State office of admissions by the February 1 deadline. As long as the university has a transcript on file, it is not necessary to include a duplicate with the application for the scholarship. Applicants must be admitted to Missouri State University at the time the Scholarship Committee begins reviewing applications. The review process begins within one week of the February 1 deadline.
