Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Guilford, Rockingham, Randolph or Alamance County, North Carolina.
  2. Must identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or as a straight ally dedicated to LGBT causes.
  3. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  4. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for residents of Guilford, Rockingham, Randolph or Alamance County, North Carolina who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or as a straight ally. Applicants must plan to enroll in a college or university during the semester following application.

Additional Information: The Carter Stroupe Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to assisting gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and LGBT allied students in furthering their education to become successful adults. The scholarship is funded by individual donations and the PFLAG Greensboro Carter Stroupe Memorial Scholarship Endowment.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available at the Greater Boston Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) website. In addition to a completed application form and an offical copy of transcripts from the most recent educational institution attended, students must submit two letters of reference from individuals who are not related to the applicant, but who are familiar with the applicant's community service efforts. All application materials and supporting documents must be mailed to the address provided above, and must be received by the deadline date.
