Number of Awards & Eligibility: An average of four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  4. Must reside in the Upper Valley of Vermont (Ascutney, Baltimore, Barnard, Bethel, Bradford, Bridgewater, Cavendish, Chelsea, Corinth, East Corinth, East Ryegate, Fairlee, Groton, Hartford, Hartland, Newbury, North Hartford, North Hartland, North Springfield, North Thetford, Norwich, Pomfret, Randolph, Randolph Center, Reading, Royalton, Ryegate, Sharon, South Royalton, South Ryegate, Springfield, Strafford, Thetford, Thetford Center, Topsham, Tunbridge, Vershire, Weathersfield, Wells River, West Fairlee, West Hartford, West Newbury, West Topsham, West Windsor, Windsor, or Woodstock).
  5. Preference will be given to applicants who are among the first generation in their families to attend college.
  6. Must demonstrate community involvement/service.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for undergraduate students who are residents of Vermont's Upper Valley region. Students must demonstrate financial need and community service/involvement; preference will be given to students who are among the first generation in their families to attend college.

Application requirements for the Upper Valley Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • FAFSA
  • Application form
Additional Information: This scholarship was created to provide financial support to residents of the Upper Valley who pursue education after high school. Students must plan to attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding, and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on financial need and application documents.

Award Amount: Up to $1,000 annually, may be renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
