Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships awarded each year varies depending on the availability of funds.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a full-time student.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at time of application.
  4. Must be of Greek descent, OR be a member, or the son/daughter of a member, of AHEPA, the Daughters of Penelope, the Sons of Pericles or the Maids of Athena.
  5. Must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This award is for U.S. and international high school seniors and current undergraduate students who are of Greek heritage OR are members of, or the sons/daughters of members of, AHEPA, the Sons of Pericles, the Daughters of Penelope, or the Maids of Athena.

Additional Information: The following named scholarships are included under this program: George Leber Scholarship, Chris Gustav Scholarship, George and Helen Constantine Scholarship, George Chirgotis Scholarship, Nick Cost Scholarship, Sam Dakis Scholarship, Dr. John C. Yavis Scholarship, Sam Nakos Scholarship, P.A. Margaronis Scholarship, Archbishop Demetrios Scholarship, and Gus County Scholarship. Please note: Students may only apply for one scholarship as an undergraduate student and one as a graduate student. Special consideration will be given to students applying for scholarships based on financial need. For all applications, consideration will also be given for AHEPA affiliation, extracurricular activities, community service and Greek Orthodox Church youth activities.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available on the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Educational Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the following materials must be submitted: official transcript(s) as required for class level, in sealed envelopes or sent directly to AHEPA (see application for details); official SAT/ACT scores, if applying as a high school senior or college freshman; one wallet-size, non-returnable photo; and two letters of recommendation. The letters must provide the recommender's name, contact information, responsibilities, years of involvement, and relationship to the student. The letter must address why the student should receive the scholarship. Letters may be given to the student in a sealed envelope, or may be mailed separately (must adhere to the postmark deadline date). If the student wishes to be considered for scholarships based on financial need, he/she must also submit financial need documentation as instructed on the application. The student should note that personal and family gross income of less than $100,000 qualifies him/her for special consideration for scholarships. All documents and supporting materials must be postmarked no later than the deadline date, and sent to the address provided via any delivery service that can ascertain proof of delivery (e.g., certified mail/return receipt requested, FedEx).
