Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a graduating high school in the state of Washington
  2. Must reside in and attend high school in the state of Washington.

Description: The Andrew York Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in Washington State who are active in working against drunk, distracted, and other dangerous driving habits.

Additional Information: The Community Foundation of North Central Washington administers more than one hundred scholarships for students residing throughout Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties. The Andrew York Memorial Scholarship is available for all graduating high school seniors in the state of Washington who have worked to prevent drunk, distracted, or otherwise intoxicated driving. The selection of scholarship recipients is based primarily on a combination of academic achievements, strength of recommendations, and unmet fianncial need as calculated by the applicant's expected financial contribution. Additional consideration will also be given to the student's history of activity in organizations and efforts to prevent dangerous driving habits. Preference will also be given to students who are active members of IBEW Local 77 or a child or grandchild of an active IBEW Local 77 member. Recipients will be notified in early May and will be required to provide additional documentation such as a signed scholarship agreement and verification of enrollment.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. All funds will be deposited directly with the school of the recipient's choice.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
