Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 200 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a New Jersey resident for 12 consecutive months prior to receiving the award.
  3. Must demonstrate financial need and meet the EOF income requirements.
  4. Must already have received a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program.
  5. Must attend a graduate school in New Jersey (that participates in the EOF program).
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must plan to enroll full-time (as defined by the institution).

Description: This award is available to U.S. graduate students who are residents of New Jersey who demonstrate educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Students must be attending an eligible institution in New Jersey.

Additional Information: The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is a campus-based program; each institution is responsible for student recruitment, selection, program services, and its own specific criteria for EOF admission and program participation. Students must apply and be accepted to a New Jersey college or university that participates in the EOF program. The objective of the graduate EOF program is to increase participation in graduate and professional study of New Jersey residents from backgrounds of historical poverty. Grants are generally available to students from families with a background of poverty, whose annual income falls within the scale listed at www.nj.gov/highereducation/EOF/EOF_Eligibility.htm and who meet the academic criteria set by the institution of their choice. Students who received EOF grants as undergraduates shall be given priority consideration for EOF graduate grants. Award Amount: Award amounts ranges from $200 to $4,350 annually, depending on the type of institution and financial need. Awards may be renewable for up to four additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,063.
