Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  4. Must be majoring in and planning to pursue a career as a secondary teacher.
  5. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application.
  6. Must be 25 years of age or older.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: A one-time award in the preferred amount of up to $1,500 for a student twenty-five (25) years of age or older. The award is given to a student studying to teach at the Elementary level. All applicants must have at least a 3.50 GPA, be at least a college sophomore, who is enrolled or is planning to attend an accredited college or university. The award is based on academic merit and is not automatically renewable; however, the recipient may reapply for consideration as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.

  • Proof of citizenship
  • List of activities
  • Financial information form
Additional Information: Awards are based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study, and/or financial need, or other restrictions on specific scholarships. No affiliation with DAR is necessary unless specified. Scholarships are awarded regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin. Only winners are notified by the National DAR Scholarship Chairman following the approval of a ruling by the executive committee of the NSDAR.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than the deadline date. Applications open in November of every year.
