Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually for each of the named scholarships available under this program.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a member of the FRA or be the spouse, child, or grandchild of an FRA member.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for these undergraduate and graduate awards. Please note: For the Nolan, Baranski, and Glezen scholarships, preference is given to students enrolled in courses of study at the master's/doctorate level.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Members of the Fleet Reserve Association or their spouses, children, or grandchildren are eligible to apply for this scholarship program at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Additional Information: Awardees are selected based on financial need, academic standing, character and leadership qualities. All applicants are considered for any scholarship the FRA is able to offer during a specific year, provided the applicant meets the eligibility requirement for the award (based on the desires of the donor). Scholarship recipients are notified in writing and by telephone. FRA only notifies the applicants who have been selected to receive a scholarship.

Award Amount: Each award is worth $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online on the Fleet Reserve Assocation (FRA) website. Answers to all application questions must be printed in black ink. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a listing of school and community extracurricular activities and awards; school transcripts and other applicable academic documentation; two recommendations, one academic and one community; and a typed or neatly printed essay about himself/herself that cites life experiences and career objectives (should be similar to a resume in scope and information). Further details for submission of transcripts and recommendations is available online in the 'Scholarship Instructions and Eligibility - Part B' form. This document also contains the appropriate forms for use in submitting transcripts and recommendations. The FRA does not acknowledge receipt of the application. If the student wants confirmation that the application has been received, he/she should submit a self-addressed stamped postcard that states 'Scholarship application has been received.' The FRA will date it and mail it back. The application and all supplemental materials must be sent to the address provided and be postmarked by the deadline date.
