Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must graduate from Frederick Douglass High School, Copping Academy, or Baltimore Leadership for Young Women.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be a resident of Maryland.

Additional Information: This award is created by the family of Georgine Newman Edgerton in recognition of her many accomplishments as a community activist, volunteer and advocate for the citizens of Baltimore. The applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Information about and applications for the award are available at the online portal of the CollegeBound Foundation. To access the application for these awards, the student must first register an online account. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. If applying for a scholarship that requires demonstrated financial need, the applicant must include the following: a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR) or a copy of his/her parents' most recent tax return; a financial aid award letter from the college he/she will attend (the applicant should send a copy of the financial aid award letter as soon as it is received); and a Maryland Higher Education Commission Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All application materials must be received by the deadline.
