Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend one of the following local colleges: Aquinas, Calvin, Cornerstone, Davenport, GRCC, GVSU, or Kendall.
  2. Must be a resident of Kent County, Michigan.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  7. Must demonstrate unmet financial need.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for undergraduate students residing in Kent County, Michigan. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and must be enrolled at one of the eligible, local colleges and universities.

Additional Information: The Grand Rapids Community Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships annually, primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career. This scholarship, provided by the Grand Rapids Scholarship Association, will be awarded each year to a Kent County student attending a local area college. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the student's unmet need and the availability of funds. Average awards are about $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information are available at the Grand Rapids Community Foundation website at the address provided. In addition to the online application form, an interested student must submit transcripts (official or unofficial), an essay describing his/her personal and professional aspirations, and documentation such as the FAFSA Student Aid report that proves financial need. All applications must be submitted online by the deadline date.
