In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be planning to pursue a career in aviation.
  5. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student (Preference will be given to seniors at Jackson Hole High School in Jackson Hole, WY).

Description: The Jack Burnham Scholarship is available for U.S. students who plan to pursue a career in aviation. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and preference will be given to students who live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Additional Information: This scholarship is provided in memory of Jack Burnham, an engineering, outdoorsman, and active supporter of EAA. The award is designed to assist in the educational expenses of students who are seeking to pursue a career in an aviation-related field such as aeronautics or pilot training. Although not required, preference will be given to students at Jackson Hole High School in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The EAA Scholarship Program encourages, recognizes and supports excellence among EAA members studying the technologies and the skills needed in the field of aviation. This annual scholarship helps outstanding students who demonstrate a financial need to accomplish his/her goals. The EAA Achievement in Aviation Scholarship is for deserving students active in recreational aviation endeavors. The applicant must be well-rounded, and involved in school, community and aviation activities. His/her academic record should show that he/she can successfully complete the educational activity for which he/she is requesting the scholarship.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Online application forms are available on the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Aviation Foundation, Inc. website. As part of the application, the student must write a personal statement of 500 words or less addressing the items listed on the application, and submit contact information for two references (not family members) who familiar with his/her scholastic performance and/or work and volunteer activities. Students may also be requested to provide official high school and/or college transcripts. Applications must be received by the deadline date.
