Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards is based on demand and availability of funds.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior who is applying for fall freshman admission into a baccalaureate program.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must plan to attend North Carolina State University.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must attend university in North Carolina.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Students who plan to attend North Carolina State University who were born with the surname 'Gatling' or 'Gatlin' and who also display need qualify for this grant. Additional Information: Due to increasing demand, it has become necessary for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to establish the following priorities in awarding Gatling Grants: North Carolina residents attending NC State with the surname Gatlin(g) who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Non-North Carolina residents attending NC State with the surname Gatlin(g) who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. North Carolina residents attending NC State with the surname Gatlin(g) who do not demonstrate financial need. Non-North Carolina residents attending NC State with the surname Gatlin(g) who do not demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually, non-renewable for in-state students and $15,000 annually, non-renewable for out-of-state students.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $25,000.

There is no separate application for this award, however students must submit a Notification of Interest to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid by the deadline as well as an Undergraduate Application Form. Students must also submit a copy of a birth certificate, confirming the name Gatlin or Gatling, to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Applications completed by the deadline will receive priority consideration.
