Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 75 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. A standard scholarship applicant must be a member or the child of a member of the Screen Actors Guild and must be paid current to April. A transitional scholarship applicant must have ten years of vested pension credits OR lifetime earnings of $150,000 under Screen Actors Guild jurisdiction.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for active members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the children of active SAG members who are enrolled full time in an accredited college or university. Selection will be based on financial need, the student's essay response, and academic achievement.

Additional Information: There are two types of scholarships: the standard scholarships are for members and children of members for college educations; and the transitional scholarships are an outgrowth of the standard Dales Scholarship program designed to assist those experienced SAG members who need further education in order to broaden or change their careers, and who require financial assistance in order to obtain it.

Award Amount: Approximately $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available on the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Foundation website and must be submitted online. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit: an essay of 350 to 750 words on a topic of his/her choice; SAT scores and any other relevant information regarding prior academic history & achievements such as extracurricular activities; the confidential financial information section for applicant AND parents; a copy of the previous year's federal income tax returns for applicant and parents; and two personal letters of recommendation. Applications and all required materials except tax returns must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
