Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must reside or have a custodial parent or court-appointed legal guardian who currently resides in Johnson County, Tennessee, and has for 12 months prior to applying for the scholarship. Documentation to substantiate residency may be required.
  3. Must plan to enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester at an accredited college or university.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be a high school senior, high school graduate, or GED recipient who will enroll as a college freshman.

Description: This scholarship is available for residents of Johnson County, Tenn, who are attending Northeast State Technical Community College.

Additional Information: The Johnson County Education Growth Scholarship was established through a gift from the Levi Strauss Foundation and support from Johnson County businesses and banks to provide a source of financial aid to Johnson County residents. Johnson County Education Growth Scholarship award selection will be based on the applicant's demonstration of financial need and academic promise.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for one year. The recipient must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher, and must enroll for 12 credit hours or more per semester for continued funding.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the East Tennessee Foundation website. Prior to starting the application, students must obtain a copy of the East Tennessee Foundation scholarship guide and application instructions. The guide can be obtained online from the East Tennessee Foundation website. Students must review this guide in order to determine if additional supplementary materials may be required in order to complete the application. Applications must be completed online no later than the deadline date.
