Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be attending Lana'i High School in Lana'i City, HI.
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as a full-time student (12 credits per semester).
  7. Preference is given to travel industry management majors.
  8. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii high school seniors who are attending Lana'i High School and have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher. Preference will be given to travel industry management majors.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established by the Pacific Business Institute for Business & Culture in memory of Kurt Schneider, former President and CEO of Lana'i Company and Lana'i Resorts and is for seniors at Lana'i High School. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: Approximately $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Online application forms are available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation website. The student should visit the Hawai'i Community Foundation's website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed online; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Note: Students WILL NOT be able to submit his/her application until all required supporting documents are electronically attached to the application. The application must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST on the deadline date.
