In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Louisiana.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older.
  5. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an eligible Louisiana postsecondary institution.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need and meet the federal requirements for the Pell Grant.
  7. Must be enrolled part-time or full-time.

Description: This award is available to Louisiana resident high school students who are planning to attend an approved postsecondary institution in Louisiana. The student must demonstrate financial need greater than $0 after deducting the student's Expected Family Contribution and Federal Pell Grant Award from the Cost of Attendance.

Additional Information: The Louisiana GO Grant Program is a state program, administered by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance, created to assists students who demonstrate financial need and planning to attend an eligible Louisiana postsecondary institution on a part-time, half-time or full-time basis. Students must be eligible for the federal Pell Grant and have a remaining financial need greater than $0 after deducting the Expected Family Contribution and Federal Pell Grant Award from the Cost of Attendance. The expected family contribution is determined from the information provided on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students should check with the financial aid office at the school he/she plans to attend for additional information.

Award Amount: $300 to $3,000 annually, renewable for as long as the student remains eligible for the Federal Pell Grant.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Additional information about this award is available from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) website. To apply, interested students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the document that LOSFA utilizes in calculating the student's state grant eligibility. The FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor for state scholarship/grant consideration as soon as possible after January 1st each year for award consideration for the upcoming award year. In addition to a complete application, each participating college or university may require students to submit additional forms or supplemental information before scholarship eligibility can be determined. Students should contact his/her institution for additional details.
