In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must be a North Carolina resident for at least one year prior to making application, unless he/she is a blood relative of Mrs. Fawn Watson OR he/she or either of his/her parents has been or presently are members of the Oak Dale Baptist Church, White Pond Baptist Church, or the Five Fork Baptist Church, all of the Robeson Baptist Association.
  4. Must be accepted in a degree program at any institution of higher education.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must be a member of a North Carolina Baptist Church, unless he/she is a blood relative of Mrs. Fawn Watson.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who have been accepted into a degree program at any institution of higher education. Students must be North Carolina residents and members of a North Carolina Baptist church, unless they are blood relatives of Mrs. Fawn Watson.

Additional Information: Applicants must exhibit high moral character and dedication to family, church, and community; consistent academic achievements; and a definite financial need. Scholarships may be awarded to one or more eligible recipients at the discretion of the scholarship committee and in amounts determined solely by the committee based on demonstrated need and academic achievements. The committee reserves the right to make no scholarships in any one year. Notifications regarding scholarship awards will be made on or before April 15 of each year.

Award Amount: Award amounts range from $500 to $2,500  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online at the North Carolina Baptist Foundation (NCBF) website. As part of the online application, the student must upload the following materials: most recent transcript available; two reference letters, one of which must be from his/her pastor; and a copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report) generated by filing his/her FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The student's full name and EFC (Expected Family Contribution) must be visible. Applications must be submitted online by the deadline date.
