Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must reside in Mexico.
  3. Must be a citizen of Mexico.
  4. Must attend one of the following Texas public college or university: Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas Southmost College, Texas State Technical College-Harlingen, the University of Texas at Brownsville, the University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Texas Pan American.
  5. Must be a high school graduate or current undergraduate or graduate student.

Description: This award is available for Mexican students who demonstrate financial need and who are planning to enroll at one of the following public Texas colleges or universities: Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas Southmost College, Texas State Technical College-Harlingen, University of Texas at Brownsville, University of Texas at El Paso, and University of Texas Pan American.

Application requirements for the Mexican Citizens with Financial Need – Border County Waiver are:

Additional Information: The purpose of this program is to provide a waiver of non-resident tuition for students from Mexico with financial need to enroll in certain public institutions in Texas while paying the resident tuition rate.

Award Amount: This award is for a waiver of non-resident tuition cost. The value of the waiver is the difference between the non-resident and resident tuition rate. The waiver is effective for as long as the student remains eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,916.
