Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards may vary based on the number of eligible students and available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have been a resident of New Jersey for 12 consecutive months prior to receiving the award.
  3. Must demonstrate an educationally and economically disadvantaged background. The student's household's gross income must fall within the EOF criteria as posted online at www.nj.gov/highereducation/EOF/EOF_Eligibility.shtml.
  4. Must apply and be accepted to a participating New Jersy college or university. A list of participating institutions is available online at www.nj.gov/highereducation/EOF/EOF_programs.shtml.
  5. Must be enrolled in an associate's or bachelor's degree program.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Additional Information: The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is one of the nation’s most comprehensive and successful state-supported efforts to provide access to higher education for economically and educationally disadvantaged students. EOF grants assist low-income residents who are capable and motivated but lack adequate preparation for college study. EOF supports a wide array of campus-based outreach and support services to help program participants succeed and graduate. The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is a campus-based program. This means that each participating institution is responsible for student recruitment, selection, program services, and its own specific criteria for EOF admission and program participation.

Award Amount: Award amounts range from $200 to $2,500. The amount varies depending upon financial need, cost of attendance, and available funding. Awards are renewable annually based on continued eligibility.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,945.
