Number of Awards & Eligibility: Ten awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) or a 'B' average in a nuclear medicine technology core curriculum.
  3. Must major in nuclear medicine technology.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior or older at time of application.

Description: This award is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are majoring in nuclear medicine technology and are enrolled in or have been accepted to an institution accredited through the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT). Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) or a 'B' average in a nuclear medicine technology core curriculum.

Additional Information: Please note: Eligible students must be enrolled or accepted in an institution accredited through the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT). A list of accredited schools/programs can be found at www.jrcnmt.org/acprograms.asp. Scholarships will be awarded for each of the following CAHEA or CAMRT approved nuclear medicine technology program categories: bachelor's degree programs, associate's degree programs, and certificate programs. A committee ranks students based on their statements of goals, prior academic performances, current financial need and the recommendations of the relevant program directors. Special consideration will be given to an applicant who is not only academically capable, but whose financial situation is such that, without the scholarship, he/she might not be able to attend the training program.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the Society of Nuclear Medicine Education and Research Foundation (SNM) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: an official transcript of all formal education (high school transcripts are not necessary if transcripts of college-level work are submitted); a letter from the program director verifying the applicant's acceptance into or enrollment in the nuclear medicine technology program (this letter must include the program director's signature); and a brief statement (no longer than one single-sided page) describing the applicant's educational aspirations and financial need for scholarship assistance (the applicant should not include his/her name or institution in the statement as it is blinded for evaluation). All applications must be received by the deadline. If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will be extended to the next business day.
