Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) degree program.
  2. Must be enrolled full time (12 hours) throughout the academic year.
  3. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  5. Must be attending an accredited college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico to pursue his/her first undergraduate degree.
  6. Must be a student member of SHPE in good standing at time of application and throughout the academic year.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for undergraduate students enrolled full time in a degree program in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field. Students must be members of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Students of Hispanic descent will be given priority.

Application requirements for the SHPE Undergraduate Scholarship are:

  • Active SHPE Member
  • Resume
  • Professional Head-shot Photo
Additional Information: Applicants are not required to be of Hispanic descent, but those who are will be given priority. The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous recipients may reapply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) website. The application must be completed via the SHPE STARS online application system. Students must create a login and password before using the system. Each student will be required to upload the following documents to the online application: a personal statement; a resume that is no longer than two pages and includes information about education, work, and volunteer background and experience; his/her most recent transcript; and at least one letter of recommendation. The student is encouraged to provide a letter from a teacher or professor who can speak to his/her academic performance and interest in STEM. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
