Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must attend one of the following schools: Brigham Young University-Hawai'i, Chaminade University, or Hawai'i Pacific University
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must plan to enroll as a full-time student (12 credits per semester).
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must be a college sophomore at time of application and plan to use the award during his/her junior year of college.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii college sophomores who are attending one of the following schools: Brigham Young University-Hawai'i, Chaminade University, Hawai'i Pacific University, or Heald College. Students must have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.

Additional Information: Created in 1996, this scholarship supports students attending BYU-Hawaii, Chaminade University or Hawaii Pacific University. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Online application forms are available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation (HCF) website. The student should visit the HCF website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed online; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Note: Students WILL NOT be able to submit their application until all required supporting documents are electronically attached to the application. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST.
