Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming first-year student.
  2. Must plan to attend Whitman College.
  3. This award is for U.S students.
  4. Must demonstrate the ability to contribute to increasing socioeconomic and multicultural diversity awareness at Whitman College.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Washington state.

Description: This award is available to U.S high school seniors who are planning to attend Whitman College. Students must demonstrate the ability to contribute to increasing socioeconomic and multicultural diversity awareness at Whitman.

Additional Information: The Lomen-Douglas Scholarships are available to students whose backgrounds and experiences demonstrate the ability to contribute to increasing socioeconomic and multicultural diversity awareness at Whitman.

Award Amount: Award amounts range from $2,000 to $60,000 annually and are renewable for three additional years. Amounts vary based on achievement and financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $180,000.

Scholarship information is available online on the Whitman College (WC) website. To be considered for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to WC. A separate scholarship information is not required. Admissions information is available online at www.whitman.edu/admission/apply. The following materials are required for an application for admission: a completed Common Application (www.commonapp.org); $50 application fee; School Report and Midyear Report forms (completed by high school guidance counselor); official high school transcripts; a completed Teacher Recommendation form; official SAT and/or ACT scores; a completed Personal Supplement form; and an interview (optional). It is also recommended that students complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Admissions applications must be submitted by Nov. 15 for early decision I; by Jan. 1 for early decision II; or by Jan. 15 for regular decision.
