Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student who is of sophomore standing or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc..
  6. Must be a female.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. undergraduate students who are of sophomore or higher standing and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must be members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or extreme financial need and participate in leadership, volunteer, civic, or campus activities.

Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or extreme financial need, and must participate in leadership, volunteer, civic, or campus activities. Awards will be announced in August.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: two letters of recommendation dated no earlier than January of the current year, one from an instructor and one from someone who can attest to her personal character and attributes; official unopened transcripts bearing her university's seal; and a personal statement discussing how her goals support the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Youth P.A.C. mission to promote healing, nurturing, learning and uplifting of youth by assisting in the development of lifelong learning skills. The statement must be no more than two double spaced pages with a minimum of 100 and no more than 250 words. Appllcations and supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
