Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application.
  4. Must be studying horticulture marketing through international travel.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international students who are studying horticulture in an international setting through an undergraduate or graduate study abroad program.

Additional Information: To qualify for a FIRST scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the U.S. or Canada. Each student will receive an email verifying receipt of his/her application. Recipients of a scholarship will be sent an award letter by U.S. mail. The FIRST Scholarship Committee will decide which scholarship(s) are most appropriate according to the applicant's interests and aptitudes as indicated on the application.

Award Amount: $4,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,500.

Application instructions are available on the American Floral Endowment website and may be accessed with the provided link. In addition to the completed application, the following materials must be submitted: two letters of recommendation and transcripts from the applicant's most recent school (official transcripts are not required). The applicant's letters of recommendation should be from a teacher who can evaluate him/her as a student and from an employer evaluating him/her as a worker. If possible, an electronic copy of the applicant's transcripts and letters of recommendation may be submitted to scholarship@firstinfloriculture.org. The authors of the recommendations can email the letters directly, but must include the student's name in the subject line and include a return email address and phone number. All applications and supporting documents must be written in English or include an English translation.
