Description: This essay contest is open to U.S. public, private, parochial, or homeschool students in grades 5-12. Students must write an essay on the current year's topic to enter; essays must be accompanied by student and teacher registration forms.

Additional Information: Essays will be judged by educators and community leaders. Names are removed from essays during the judging process. The decision of the judges is final. Essays will be judged on originality, adherence to topic, and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Winners will be contacted by phone or email, and a list of the winners will be posted on the Memorial website by late November. All winners will be recognized in January.

Award Amount: For grades 5-6, prizes are awarded as follows: first place, $100; second place, $75; third place, $50. For grades 7-8, prizes are awarded as follows: first place, $150; second place, $100; third place, $75. For grades 9-10, prizes are awarded as follows: first place, $200; second place, $150; third place, $100. For grades 11-12, prizes are awarded as follows: first place, $300; second place, $200; third place, $125.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $300.

Registration forms are available on the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum (OCNMM) website. To enter, the student must prepare an essay on the current year's topic for his/her grade level. Topics are available in the "Rules and Regulations" document on the OCNMM website. Essays should be approximately 350 words for students in grades 5-8 and approximately 500 words for students in grades 9-12. Essays must be typed and double-spaced, and must be in Word format if submitted online. The student must complete and submit a "Student Registration Form" online (preferred) or via mail/fax/delivery. The essay must be accompanied by a "Teacher Registration Form", to be completed by the student's teacher or his/her parent if home-schooled. Teacher forms may be submitted online or mailed/faxed/delivered. Teachers may submit one registration form for multiple entries. Only one essay per student may be submitted. Please note: Essays submitted without both a Student Registration Form and a Teacher Registration Form will not be considered for judging. All entries must be received by the deadline date.
