Additional Information: All applicants will be notified of the competition results by June. In order to the receive the award, recipients must attend all Honors Symposium activities.

Award Amount: Awards range from $5,000 to $12,000 for first prize. All awards are provided on a one-time basis and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. This is a business commentary essay competition. Application forms and the essay topic are available on the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) website. Each applicant must submit a typewritten business commentary essay between 2,000 and 3,000 words in length on the theme listed on the application. The essay should demonstrate critical thinking, business analysis, creativity and strong communication skills. Essays must be supported be a reference list or bibliography, and must comply with the Chicago Manual of Style or a comparable reference manual. In addition to a completed application and the essay, the student must submit the following: a one- to two-page typed biography that includes information about his/her background, personal philosophy and career goals; one letter of recommendation from a current college or university faculty member (can be emailed from the faculty member's personal email to the email address provided); a 'Confirmation Form' (available within the application) completed by his/her dean or department chair which should be placed in a sealed envelope with the dean's/department chair's signature across the back flap; a black and white or color photograph (may be mailed or emailed); and a signed 'Affidavit of Eligibility/Publicity Release Form' (available within the application). One copy of the essay and biography must be submitted online by the deadline date.
