Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 80 to 85 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be attending or have attended Boothbay Region High School in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
  3. Must be a resident of one of the following Maine cities: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, or Southport.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Description: This scholarship is available for international and U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are residents of one of the following Maine cities: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, or Southport. Students must have attended Boothbay Region High School in Boothbay, Maine.

Additional Information: The Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund is affiliated with Dollars For Scholars, a national scholarship organization. Some colleges have agreed to match awards from Dollars For Scholars chapters and others have agreed to not alter grants that have already been promised if additional grants come from the Student Aid Fund. Through these programs the Student Aid Fund is able to make its grants even more beneficial to students. Awards decisions are made by April 15 for applications submitted by March 29; and by May 20 for applications submitted by May 1.

Award Amount: $200 to $6,000 annually, non-renewable. Students can reapply for the award each year that they are in school as matriculated students. The award amount will vary based on the student's financial need and the student's college's policy for applying outside grants to its financial aid packages.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,100.

Applications are available online on the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a copy of a current financial aid award letter from his/her college's financial aid office (last year's letter may be submitted if the current one is not yet available); a signed 'Release of Financial Aid Information' form (available with the application); and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application package must be sent to the Boothbay Region High School guidance office using the mailing address listed. Those current high school seniors for whom a grant from the Student Aid Fund will help make a decision about which college to attend should plan on submitting their completed applications by March 30. The deadline for upperclassmen and students who do not need an early decision is May 1.
