Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must be conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus and be able to demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area.
  5. Must enroll full time or part time.
  6. Must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States or Canada.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is open to international and U.S. graduate students who are conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus at an accredited four-year college/university in the United States or Canada. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the NTA Luray Caverns Graduate Research Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Applications are evaluated by the Tourism Cares Academic Scholarship Selection Committees, consisting of travel, tourism, and hospitality educators and industry professionals from across the United States. The committee's decisions are reported to the Tourism Cares Board of Directors.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. The award will be made in two equal payments, one at the outset and the other after submission of final research to Tourism Cares.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available on the Tourism Cares website. The student must create an account to access the online application. Only one application is necessary to apply for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to be considered. Please note: Applicants for a graduate research scholarship may NOT apply for any other graduate scholarships. The following documents must be uploaded to the online application: a resume; a letter of recommendation from his/her academic or research advisor; a completed 'Graduate Research Faculty Advisor Confirmation Form' (available for download from the online application); a five-page research proposal describing his/her research on a topic with a tourism focus (detailed information available within application); and a one-page reflection essay. The student must request an official transcript be sent directly from his/her institution in a sealed envelope to Tourism Cares at the mailing address provided. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
