Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. It is determined by the trustees and is based on the quality of applications received and funding available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be a legal resident of Sacramento County, California for at least one year OR a relative of an SAR or affiliate member and have a valid California Driver's License or California State Identification Card.
  6. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  7. Must pursue a real estate-related certification or career.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. high school students who are legal residents of Sacramento County, California for at least one year OR the relatives of an SAR or affiliate member and have a valid California Driver's License or California State Identification Card are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time and have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.

Additional Information: As a community service, SAR provides an annual scholarship to qualified applicants to encourage higher education efforts. The scholarship is funded primarily by SAR member donations The following guidelines are considered: grade point average, quality of essay, qualities of applicant, financial need, educational goals, and whether or not the applicant is a relative of realtor, affiliate or deceased member. Students do receive extra points in the process for having a family member who is a member of the association, or top students who have a goal of becoming a real estate agents or brokers. While it is not a requirement, it definitely is a consideration in choosing between equally deserving students. Each scholarship recipient will receive notification of the award and award amount in late April.

Award Amount: $500 to $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,750.

Applications are available online from the Sacramento Association of Realtors website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit an official transcript from his/her high school or college/university; verification of current enrollment (or proof of acceptance and intention to enroll for the upcoming fall semester); a typed, 300-word essay explaining his/her career objectives and benefits to be gained from the financial award; and three references (two must be from faculty of his/her high school/college/university). All application materials must be received by 4:30 p.m. PST on the deadline date.
