Number of Awards & Eligibility: 33 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  4. Must be a person with epilepsy or a family member/caregiver of a person with epilepsy.

Description: UCB is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on creating value for people living with severe diseases including epilepsy. This award is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who have been diagnosed with epilepsy or are a family member/caregiver of a person with epilepsy.

Additional Information: Eligibility Requirements 1) Legal residents of the United States 2) Students diagnosed with epilepsy by a physician or the immediate family member (parent, spouse, child or sibling) and/or caregiver of a person living with epilepsy 3) Students seeking an associate's undergraduate, or graduate degree or enrolled in a trade school educational program 4) A student who demonstrates academic and personal achievement, possesses a strong record of participation in activities outside of school, and serves as a positive role model for others 5) Students graduating from high school in 2022 or have already graduated from high school 6) Students enrolled in, or awaiting acceptance from, a United States-based center for higher learning for the fall semester 2021 7) Not a previous recipient of the UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship 8) Not an employee of UCB or an immediate family member of a UCB employee.

Award Amount: Thirty awards of up to $5,000 and three awards of up to $10,000 will be available this year. Awards are provided on a one-time basis and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $180,000.
