Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Rhode Island.
  4. Must be enrolled in a Rhode Island institution.
  5. Must be a licensed RN seeking a baccalaureate or graduate degree OR be pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
  6. Must be pursuing a degree in nursing.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to licensed RNs who are seeking baccalaureate or graduate nursing degrees in Rhode Island and students enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program in Rhode Island. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $500 to $3,000 annually, renewable until degree completion.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,000.

Applications are available on the Rhode Island Foundation website. The student must click on the "Scholarship/Fellowship Opportunities" link and then search for his/her desired scholarship to access the application. As part of the online application, the student must upload the following required documents: a completed 'Financial Information Worksheet' (accessible for download in the application); a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report), which is generated after filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); the most recent version of his/her student transcript (unofficial accepted); an essay of 300 words or less on the topic listed on the application; and a copy of his/her letter of acceptance to an eligible nursing program. Documents must be in Word, Excel, or PDF formats. File names should describe the attachment. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
