Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Kansas.
  3. Must enroll for six hours or more per semester. Preference will be given to full-time students.
  4. Must pursue a career in nursing.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Kansas.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. The scholarship committee shall consider the following priorities in making scholarship recommendations to the board of trustees: registered nurses pursuing a bachelor's of science in nursing; graduate and postgraduate nursing study; formal nursing programs (advanced registered nurse practitioner, etc.); and students enrolled in undergraduate nursing programs.
  9. Must be a high school graduate or older at time of application.

Description: This award is available for U.S. nursing students who are residents of Kansas and attend a college or university in Kansas. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Additional Information: The purpose of the Kansas Nurses Foundation is to receive and manage funds derived from memorials, gifts, and contributions and to apply the income thereof to support charitable nursing education and scientific activities through grants, loans, or scholarships to individuals, organizations, and institutions engaged in nursing education or research. These awards are for students who have been accepted to or are already enrolled in a nursing program.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available on the Kansas Nurses Foundation (KNF) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: a copy of an official transcript of grades from the last academic institution he/she attended; a narrative statement describing the applicant's anticipated role in nursing in Kansas, upon completion of the nursing program; a letter from the applicant's school verifying his/her acceptance in the nursing program; and three confidential letters of recommendation, signed and addressed to the KNF Scholarship Committee (one letter must be from a faculty advisor and one must be from an employer). All of the letters must be original, and one of the letters should reflect the applicant's commitment to nursing. The completed application form and all required documents must be submitted in one packet, postmarked on or before the deadline.
