In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must pursue a degree in dentistry.
  3. Must be an Idaho resident.
  4. Must attend Idaho State University for the first year of the degree, and then be admitted to the School of Dentistry at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an eligible program.

Description: This award is available to Idaho residents who are admitted into the School of Dentistry at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Students must attend the first year at Idaho State University in Pocatello and the following three years in Omaha at Creighton.

Additional Information: The Idaho Dental Education Program's goal is to provide residents of Idaho with access to an outstanding dental education and encourage practice in Idaho. The Idaho Dental Education Program provides financial support for a limited number of Idaho students admitted to the School of Dentistry at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Eligible students must attend the first year at Idaho State University in Pocatello and the following three years in Omaha at Creighton. Selection evaluation by the IDEP Admissions Commitee is based on: academic and non-academic factors; highly qualified admissions profiles; and an interview.

Award Amount: This award subsidizes the out-of-state cost of tuition and fees for Idaho residents to attend Creighton University. The average second through fourth year support amount is approximately $15,000 annually. This award is renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $45,000.

Students must contact Dr. Jeff Ybarguen (ybarj@isu.edu), Chair, Idaho Dental Education Program, Idaho State University, P.O. Box 8088, Pocatello, Idaho, 83209, 208-282-3289 for application information. To apply, students must complete the AADSAS application (available from the American and Dental Education Association website at www.adea.org) indicating Idaho residency and plans to attend Creighton University, Omaha. Students must then submit the following materials to Creighton University: a copy the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) scores; official transcripts from college course work (as needed); and personal references or pre-dental committee evaluation. In addition, students must also complete the Idaho Residency Certification form and return it to the IDEP office and complete the Creighton Supplemental Application with the appropriate fee. Creighton will forward a copy of the application to the IDEP office for consideration by the IDEP admissions committee. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview at ISU in Pocatello. To obtain full consideration by the IDEP admissions committee all information must be complete in the IDEP office by no later than Jan. 1 of the year admission is desired. Applications that are completed after Jan. 1 will be considered only on a space-available basis.
