Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships awarded each year varies depending on the availability of funds.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a full-time student.
  2. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  3. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application.
  4. Must be of Greek descent, OR be a member, or the son/daughter of a member, of AHEPA, the Daughters of Penelope, the Sons of Pericles or the Maids of Athena.
  5. Must major in engineering, medicine, or nursing.
  6. Must be a resident of Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, Deleware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or Washington, D.C.

Description: This award is for full-time graduate and undergraduate students involved in the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) or of Greek heritage. Applicants must major in engineering, medical studies, or nursing and must be a resident of Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, Deleware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or Washington, D.C..

Additional Information: The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is one of the largest Greek-American organizations. Its mission is to promote Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence. Four auxiliaries form the AHEPA family: AHEPA Family, The Daughters of Penelope, The Sons of Pericles, and Maids of Athena. The scholarship program at the national level is administered by AHEPA's National Educational Foundation. The foundation was established to promote, encourage, induce and advance education at the college, university and graduate school level.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.

Applications are available on the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Educational Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the following materials must be submitted: an official transcript (see application for details); official SAT/ACT scores; an essay of no more than 500 words addressing the topic listed on the application; one wallet-size, non-returnable photo; and two letters of recommendation. If the student wishes to be considered for scholarships based on financial need, he/she must also submit financial need documentation as instructed on the application. All documents and supporting materials must be postmarked no later than the deadline date and sent via certified mail with a 'return receipt requested' OR other carrier (Express Mail, UPS, FedEx, etc.) where tracking the application package and signatures is required.
