Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Clay County, Florida.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Must be enrolled in or accepted to a nursing program.
  6. Must be enrolled at St. Johns River State College.
  7. Must be a college freshman or sophomore at time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available to Clay County, Florida, residents studying nursing at St. Johns River State College. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: By accepting the scholarship, the applicant agrees to seek and accept employment at Orange Park Medical Center upon successful completion of the education program. Scholarships will be awarded on a demonstrated need basis. Need is determined based on expected family income as reported on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for one year. Renewal will be contingent upon maintaining a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and remaining enrolled in the SJRCC nursing program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available on the St. Johns River State College (SJRSC) Foundation, Inc. website. The application must be completed online; paper applications are neither available nor accepted. In addition to a completed online application, the student must upload two letters of recommendation. Certain SJRSC scholarships may require additional documents; the student should carefully review the guidelines for all scholarships for which he/she is eligible. Students who are not currently enrolled at SJRSC must also submit a high school transcript. All application information must be submitted by the appropriate date for the semester for which the student wishes to receive funding.
