Women's Transportation Seminar - Portland Chapter

Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in or have graduated from a high school in Oregon.
  2. Must be a graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. Must be female.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must be majoring in transportation or a related field.
  8. Must demonstrate interest in international issues arising in transportation.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for graduate women in Oregon and southwest Washington who are majoring in a transportation-related field. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must express an interest in international issues arising in the transportation industry.

Additional Information: WTS launched the Leadership Legacy Scholarship in 2007. Through this award, the Portland WTS Chapter provides $4,000 to an outstanding young woman pursuing graduate studies working toward a career in transportation or a related field, and who demonstrates a specific interest in advancing transportation innovation in the international arena.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

To be considered for this award, applicants must submit the following items: A completed application form, saved and submitted electronically as a WORD .doc or .docx file; a copy of official transcripts; a personal statement of up to 1,000 words describing the applicant's interests in transportation, relevant experience, and how the award will contribute to the applicant's ability to create an impact on the industry; and a letter of recommendation. All students must submit all applications and supporting documents as email attachments saved in Microsoft Office Word format (.doc or .docx). All applications and supporting documents must be received by the provided deadline date.
