Number of Awards & Eligibility: Generally, 4 to 5 awards are offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have established and maintained a satisfactory academic record (normally a 'C' grade point average).
  3. Must be pursuing full-time Christian work in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
  4. Must be a communicant member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be working toward a degree in a college, university, or seminary which is fully accredited by its regional accrediting association.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors or undergraduate college students who are enrolled full time in a Christian ministry program and have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must be members of the Presbyterian Church.

Additional Information: This fund was formed in 1972 from the estate of Miss Jimmie Ullery, a First Presbyterian Church member. Interest from the original corpus of the trust is used to assist eligible students. Preference will be given in the following order: members of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa; members of a church in the Presbytery of Eastern Oklahoma; members of a church in the Synod of the Sun; members of the Presbyterian Church at large. The scholarship committee will base its awards upon the following criteria: specific scholarship requirements; church or religious involvement; and academic performance and potential. Scholarship payments for successful applicants will be paid by the scholarship foundations to the financial office only of the applicant's academic institution. These payments will be in equal semester installments.

Award Amount: The award amount varies each year based on funds available. Students must reapply each year. Students are expected to maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and are responsible for having their college or university submit an official copy of their transcript to the business office of the First Presbyterian Church each semester.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.

Applications are available online from the First Presbyterian Church website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit the following materials: a copy of his/her high school and college transcripts; a copy of his/her or his/her parent's tax return from last year; a short essay describing his/her future plans or any extenuating circumstances he/she believes the scholarship committee should consider; and three references which must be sent by the referrer directly to First Presbyterian Church (reference forms included with the application). One reference should be from a teacher or guidance counselor, and one should be from a pastor, youth director, or church member. The scholarship committee strongly urges that the application be typed. If this is impossible, the student should print clearly in ink. Applications may be mailed, faxed, or emailed using the contact information provided. All applications must be received by the deadline date.
