Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of eligible students and the amount of funds available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Wisconsin.
  3. Must have a severe or profound hearing or visual impairment.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must attend an eligible public or independent postsecondary institution in Wisconsin (or an eligible out-of-state institution).
  6. Must enroll on a half-time basis or more.
  7. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.

Description: This award is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are residents of Wisconsin who are planning attend an in-state or eligible out-of-state public or independent higher education institution. Students must have a severe or profound hearing or visual impairment and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the Wisconsin Hearing & Visually Handicapped Student Grant Program are:

  • Certification.
Additional Information: The Handicapped Student Grant Program provides funding for undergraduate Wisconsin residents who are enrolled at in-state public or independent institutions. Students must show financial need and have a severe or profound hearing or visual impairment to be eligible. Financial need is generally defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the student’s expected family contribution (EFC). The expected family contribution is determined using the information provided from the completing the FAFSA.

Award Amount: Up to $1,800 annually, renewable for up to five years (ten semesters).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
