Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must participate in school and community activities.
  5. Must have an identified learning disability. Please note: ADD/ADHD alone is not considered a learning disability; eligible candidates with ADD/ADHD must also provide documentation of a specific learning disability.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors with a documented learning disability who demonstrate financial need are eligible for this award. The student must plan to enroll in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with learning disabilities.

Application requirements for the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Application form
  • Financial Statement
  • ACT/SAT score report
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: An eligible applicant must articulate his/her LD and recognize the need for self-advocacy and demonstrate perseverance and committment to achieving personal goals despite the challenges of LD. The student must be active in school and community activities and be committed to post-high school academic study/career training, setting realistic career goals.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, for two years  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The completed application and supporting materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted online by the deadline date.
