Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 20 students awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.9 or higher.
  3. Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours each semester).
  4. Must be a high senior at time of application.
  5. Must have an SAT score of 1500 or higher OR an ACT score of 35 or higher.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must plan to attend Boston University in Massachusetts.

Description: This award is for students who are graduating high school seniors planning to enroll full time at Boston University in Massachusetts. Students must have a grade point average of 3.9 or higher, rank in the top one percent of their graduating classes, and have an SAT/ACT score of 1500/35 or higher.

Additional Information: The Trustee Scholarship is Boston University's most prestigious merit-based award, recognizing those students who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Trustee Scholars are selected by the Trustee Scholarship Selection Committee, and are contingent upon residence in university-owned housing. Extracurricular activities are extremely important.

Award Amount: The scholarship covers full tuition and fees (valued at $56,854) annually, renewable for three years if a grade point average of 3.5 or higher is maintained.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,137,080.

Additional information for this award is available online from the Boston University (BU) website. The student must apply for admission to BU to be considered for this award. An additional scholarship application is not required. To apply for admission, a student must submit the following: a $75 application fee (online or paper); and official copy of his/her high school transcript; and all official results of either the SAT with two SAT Subject Tests, or the ACT with Writing Test. For some programs, additional SAT Subject Tests may be required. All tests must be taken no later than November. In addition to a completed application, the student must fill out the nomination form, which can be found at the website provided, and email it to his/her high school principal, headmaster or school counselor. The student must also submit an essay of no more than 600 words on one of the topics listed online, and a shorter essay of up to 300 words on any topic they wish to address that is not already covered in their resume. *Please note: On the common application, the student must indicate that he/she is a Trustee Scholar nominee by typing the letters "TR" in the box marked 'Office Use Only' at the bottom of page one. Students must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for this award. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
