Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually. The scholarships will be granted to one recipient from each of the four sectors of IFPTE: Canada, private, public, and federal.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. or Canadian resident.
  3. Must be the child or grandchild of a current International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) member.
  4. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

Description: This award is available for current high school seniors who are the children or grandchildren of current members of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE). Selection is based on community involvement, an essay response, and academic achievement.

Additional Information: The IFPTE Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated skills through academic achievement and service to their schools and communities. Scholarship winners will be chosen on the basis of their essays, academic achievement, and school and community activities as follows: academic achievement, 20 percent; essay, 40 percent; school/community activities, 40 percent. Children and grandchildren of IFPTE Executive Officers are not eligible for the scholarships. Scholarship winners may not attend any school that discriminates because of race, sex, creed, or color. Only accredited colleges or universities will be acceptable.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. The scholarship awards are designed to be used in the 2018-2019 school year and may not be used retroactively or prospectively.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available on the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: official transcripts of high school grades signed by the applicant's guidance counselor or school administrator; three letters of recommendation; and an essay of 500 words or less addressing the topic listed on the IFPTE website. Evidence of grades on college entrance exams (ACT or SAT) is optional. All application materials must be postmarked on or before the deadline date.
