Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 60 students are invited to the competition each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current high school senior.
  3. Must apply for admission to Georgia College & State University prior to the scholarship competition.
  4. Must have an SAT score of 1310 or higher (combined critical reading and math) OR an ACT score of 28 or higher.
  5. Must attend college or university in Georgia.

Description: This scholarship competition is open to U.S. and international students who plan to attend Georgia College & State University as freshmen. Students must have an SAT score of 1310 or higher or an ACT score of 28 or higher, and attend the day-long competition.

Application requirements for the GCSU President’s Scholarship Competition are:

Additional Information: The President's Scholarship Competition (PSC) awards scholarships to incoming first-year students with superior academic accomplishments. The competition includes a personal interview with Georgia College faculty members and a class discussion with faculty and other student competitors. Students will also have an opportunity to meet previous scholarship recipients and fellow prospective students and will have a chance to tour campus.

Award Amount: The Trustee Scholarship is $6,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.The Presidential Scholarship is $4,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.The Vera L. Vincent Scholarships (awarded to liberal arts and sciences majors) is $3,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.Additional scholarships may be offered to top competitors.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $13,000.

Scholarship information is available on the Georgia College & State University (GCSU) website. To be considered for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to GCSU prior to the competition date. Each student is required to submit a resume of activities, awards, leadership roles, etc. and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor. These documents may be submitted with the student's admissions application. Students must also submit a President's Scholarship Competition Interest Form (available on the GCSU website or by contacting the New Student Programs department). Once a student has submitted all required materials, the reviewing committee will select a limited number of students to attend the completion.
